Annabelle Lawson is studying with Philip Fowke, having just received a BA in Music from King’s College, Cambridge. She is now pianist in residence at the Forest School, London, and performs widely as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. She is also actively involved in the Westminster Choral Project, promoting music-making in the Borough’s musically needy primary schools. Prior to this she studied with her father, Peter Lawson, and Ronan O’Hora at Chetham’s School of Music. She has also taken part in masterclasses with John Lill, Kathryn Stott, Yo Yo Ma, Bernard Roberts, Stephen Hough, Leslie Howard, Sulamita Aronovsky and Rolf Hind.

Solo recitals in venues such as Kettles Yard and Uppingham School, as well as recent appearances as a soloist in Stravinsky’s Les Noces and Grainger’s The Warriors and concerto performances of Mozart’s piano concerto K466 in D minor and Bartok’s 3rd piano concerto, emphasise her enthusiasm to explore the whole gamut of piano repertoire. As an undergraduate she was also an official accompanist for the Cambridge University Instrumental Award Scheme, as well as the orchestral pianist for the University Music Society.

In 1998 Annabelle performed Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain firstly with Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier (released on CD) and subsequently with the Hallé Orchestra in the Bridgewater Hall. She also took part in the Piano 2000 Festival in Manchester, performing Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals and promoting the festival by appearing as duettist with Kathryn Stott on the BBC’s Blue Peter. More recently she contributed towards a commercial disc “Cohesion” in aid of Manchester’s Kosovo Appeal.
